Q: Why should I purchase from Prime Cellular?

A: We specialize in providing premium cellular improvement products at the lowest possible prices. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer support to ensure you receive the right information to tailor your puchases to meet your specific requirements. As an authorized Wilson Cellular retailer, we stock all Wilson products and can almost always ship your order immediately.

Q: Why don't you sell Nextel or Southern Linc (iDEN) amplifiers anymore?

A: Nextel and Southern Linc use unique iDEN frequencies which are currently changing across the country (rebanding). This change was required by the FCC to clear up congestion resulting from the old frequencies sharing bandwidth with emergency services like fire and police departments. Because of the rebanding, all iDEN amplifiers have been removed from our inventory until amplifiers covering the new frequencies become available.

Q: What if I don't see any improvement in my cellular service?

A: First, give us a call to see if we can help you determine the problem. For instance, amplifier/repeater problems can often be corrected by simply moving the inside and outside antennas further apart to keep them from interfering with one another or by replacing a cable. If we are unable to resolve the problem to your satisfaction, we offer a 30 day money back guarantee (less shipping and handling) on products returned in their original condition with original packaging. If a product is not returned in new condition or in the original packaging, a 20% restocking fee will apply. If a return is necessary, we will provide a return merchandise authorization (RMA) number and return shipping instructions.

Q: How can I view the status of my order?

A: Click on the Order Status link at the top of every page and enter your order number and billing zip code. Your order information and status will be listed. If your order has already been shipped, a link(s) to tracking information will also be provided. Orders are not normally shipped until all products in the order are available. A backordered item will cause the entire order to be listed as backordered. Click HERE to go directly to the Order Status page.

Q: What are my shipping costs?

A: Your shipping costs for different shipping methods will be displayed prior to checking out. Simply select the method that best meets your needs and budget. Refresh the shipping costs if you add or delete any item from your cart.

Q: How do I determine what frequencies my cellular provider uses in my area?

A: We recommend using the Wireless Advisor website. This website provides information on what cellular towers have been licensed to operate in a particular county. Wireless Advisor does its best to keep the most accurate information possible, but because of changing cellular requirements in each area, they can't guarantee that all of the information is always correct. Click HERE to go to the Wireless Advisor website and then type in your zipcode to see the cellular providers and frequencies being used in your county.

Q: How do I know which antenna will work best for me?

A: Click HERE to go to the antenna selection matrix which allows you to determine the proper antenna based on how and where the antenna will be used. Be sure to select an antenna that operates in the correct frequency range for your cellular provider. Most cellular providers use the same 800 and 1900MHz frequencies, however, Nextel, Southern Linc and Mike use unique iDEN frequencies. Almost all of the antennas will work with iDEN frequencies, but Wilson Electronics has developed a magnet-mount, glass-mount and NMO-mount specifically to operate on these frequencies.

Q: How do I know which amplifier will work best for me?

A: Click HERE to go to the amplifier selection matrix which allows you to determine the proper amplifier based on how and where the amplifier will be used. Be sure to select an amplifier that operates in the correct frequency range for your cellular provider. Most cellular providers use the same 800 and 1900MHz frequencies, however, Nextel and Southern Linc use unique iDEN frequencies which are currently changing across the country (rebanding). Because of this, all iDEN amplifiers have been removed from our website until amplifiers covering the new frequencies become available. For cellular providers using iDEN frequencies, you must select amplifiers designed to work with iDEN frequencies.

Q: Can you guarantee that buying an antenna or amplifier will work for me?

A: Because cellular communications work based on line-of-sight, how much signal your antenna and amplifier receives depends on the distance from the cell tower and how many and what type of obstructions are between you and the cell tower (e.g., trees, mountains, buildings, etc.). A cellular antenna and amplifier will always improve reception of any received signal, but if for instance you are 100 miles from the nearest cell tower, nothing you purchase will be strong enough to give you a usable signal. A good rule of thumb is, if you are getting a sometimes usable but weak signal, you will improve your reception. If you are getting no reception at all, you may end up with a usable signal, but there is no way to guarantee improvement. This is why we offer a 30 day money back guarantee less shipping and handling (products must be returned in original condition with original packaging). If you have questions about whether our products will help for your specific needs, contact us at (800) 713-3001.

Q: How do I know which accessories are required for my system?
A: We do our best to include information on each product for complementary product options, but it is very difficult to determine which accessories (e.g., coax cable or antenna mount) is right for every installation. If you have any questions about your specific needs, please call us at (800) 713-3001 or email us at info@primecellular.comm

Q: How can I determine whether the antenna and/or amplifier are working?

A: If there is any signal in your area, your external antenna and/or amplifier should always make it stronger. Just looking at the bars on your phone is very unreliable because the signal strength will vary considerably with the same number of bars showing. Additionally, it generally takes 20 to 30 seconds for your phone to update the bars, so changes to your system configuration may take a while to be displayed. A more accurate and quicker updating solution is to use the test mode on your phone. The test mode will show you specific dB gains and losses instantly. On most phones a reading of -50dB is a perfect signal and a reading of -127dB is no signal at all (some phones use positive rather than negative ranges). Typically, cellular signals become unusable between -95 and -105dB. You can find the instructions to put your phone into test mode by clicking HERE. If you don't see your phone listed, try using the instructions listed for other models by the same manufacturer (e.g., Motorola or Nokia). If you still can't get your phone in test mode, try contacting tech support at Wilson Electronics (866) 294-1660 to see if the instructions are available.
